Simon Steidl

Percussion Teacher

Simon Steidl was born 1993 in Lienz in Austria. He began his drum studies at the age of seven at the music school and played in different bands and youth orchestras. During his high school time he continued his musical education at the Conservatory of Carinthia with Prof. Kattnig and gathered his first professional orchestra experience at the Theater of Klagenfurt.

After his military service at the military corp of Carinthia he moved to Graz to study with Prof. Ulrike Stadler at the University of performing arts. During this time he played in various ensembles for example the Austrian Brass Band and the KUG Percussion Ensemble and he also managed to join the summer academy in Salzburg 2013, sharing the concert stage with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra.

At the age of 21 he won the audition for Principal Timpani with the Grazer Philharmonic Orchestra at the Opera House in Graz. Later on he joined the percussion group „Louies Cage Percussion“ 2018, touring through europe, combining a modern percussion sound with acting.

He also worked with orchestras like the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tonkünstler Orchestra Niederösterreich and played at the Volksoper Vienna. His musical work brought him to various countries all over the globe.
