Marta Klimasara initially trained as a pianist before taking up the drums at the age of twelve. She then studied percussion with Krzystof Jaguszewski in Katowice and with Professor Klaus Treßelt at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart. In 2004, Marta Klimasara was appointed professor of percussion at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart. Far beyond the borders of her current home city of Stuttgart, the Polish musician is a highly regarded percussion soloist. In addition to tours in France, Sweden, Japan, and South Africa, her international reputation is based in particular on her successes in international competitions. Before Marta Klimasara emerged as the winner of the 2001 Münchner ARD-Wettbewerb, she had already won first prize at the 2nd World Marimba Competition in Japan in 1999 and second prize at the 3rd Krzystof Penderecki International Competition of Contemporary Music in Krakow. Marta Klimasara performs with orchestras such as the RSO Stuttgart, dem Münchener Kammerorchester, dem Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, der Nationalphilharmonie Warschau, dem Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra Warschau und Kattowitz, den Hofer Symphonikern sowie dem RSO Saarbrücken, and is a guest at numerous international festivals, e.g., in Vienna, Paris, Warsaw, and St. Petersburg.
